The Hogan/American Savings Bank Non-Profit Business Plan Competition at Chaminade University is open to non-profit organizations planning to start new ventures that will benefit society. Thanks to generous contributions from American Savings Bank, the Ulupono Initiative, and Olomana Loomis ISC, prizes offered are $10,000 for first place; $6,000 for second place; $4,000 for third place; $2,000 for fourth place; and $1,000 for all remaining finalists.? The business plan that is the ?Most Compelling? will be awarded 80 hours of consulting services for Olomana Loomis ISC. The deadline to submit business plans is March 6, and the winners will be announced on April 18.

?This competition is especially important in light of recent news that many Hawai?i nonprofits have been scaling back or shutting down operations due to cuts in funding. It is a tough time for nonprofits, and it seems like the pool of grant money is drying up,? said Hogan Program director, John Webster, PhD. ?But thanks to our generous contributors, the Hogan Entrepreneurial Program will be looking for new programs that best embody its mission of ?doing social things that make business sense, as it conducts its 5th Non-Profit Business Plan Competition.?

For full competition details, call Ann Lujan Kishi at 808-739-4673.? Information is also available at http://www.chaminade.edu/hogan/hogan-7.php.
