Internet Archive Offers Hundreds of Public Domain Film Torrents

Internet Archive logoMention the word ?torrents? and you?re all but guaranteed to start a passionate debate about the evils of piracy and how much it hurts musicians, game developers, movie studios and artists. Not all torrents are ?evil? though ? and The Internet Archive is set to prove it.

The site, which is a sort of virtual library featuring tons of free downloadable books, movies and music, has now added torrent functionality to the mix. In the past, the archive featured direct downloads of material, which was often troublesome because file sizes were so huge. That should no longer be a problem as torrents allow downloads in nice little pieces, making the whole process far more user friendly and less likely to end in failure.

So, if you?ve been hankering to see some public domain titles like George Romero?s Night of the Living Dead or His Girl Friday, scratching your itch should be a lot easier ? and you won?t have to worry about breaking the law or downloading a system-crippling virus, either.

You can check out all of the site?s film offerings by aiming your browser here. Let us know if you stumble across any gems ? we?re always on the lookout for cool new stuff to watch.?
